There are several reasons why you wanted to stop update from zenfone. In my case there are many reasons why you needed to stop softwere update.
One the update begin it is difficult for zenfone or Asus users to stop you need to follow these steps
Go to setting
Then Apps
Then All
and find Fotaservice
Click on FOTAservice and clear data and clear cache
click on force stop
Now you will be able to see that auto softwere update downloading has been stopped
Sometimes your Zenfone does not compatible for update and once update has been started to download after the installation of update your fone needed to restart and then it never turned on this is why you need to stop auto update or downloading the updating
